Certification requirements – Auto-assign, in-season, playoffs, USAL

Requirements to be eligible for Auto-assign and Arbiter inclusion –
must be completed by mid-February

  • Active USA Lacrosse membership
  • Take and pass the annual NFHS/USAL Girls’ Lacrosse Rules exam
  • Have taken and passed the USAL Rules Class at least once
  • Be an active member of CWLOA and pay all associated dues
  • Pay all CHSAA fees, and get a background check, if needed this year
  • Attend the annual CWLOA Rules Interpretation session in January
  • Have attended a 2- or 3-person training session at least once

And, either:

  • Complete required CWLOA annual training: 6 hours of classroom, 2 hours on-field (weather allowing)

Or:

  • Attend relevant sessions at the USAL convention in January

Requirements to be eligible for post-season playoff assignments

  • All of above, and
  • Have a Level 2 rating for early round games with 3-person training and experience, and Level 3 rating for semi-finals and finals
  • Have officiated a minimum of 4 3-person games after attending 3-person classroom training and on-field training session this season
  • Have attended at least 2 of the in-season Q&A sessions held weekly on Zoom
  • Have officiated as least 12 varsity games during this season, at least 8 of which must be CHSAA high school games.

USA Lacrosse Certification

  • Active member of USAL
  • Pass the NFHS Annual Rules Test
  • Completed the Annual Professional Learning Course at USAL
  • Hold a current USAL rating
  • Have passed the USAL Girls’ Lacrosse Rules Online Course, at least once.
